We can’t say that the Rochet-Schneider #29539 is really the very last Rochet-Schneider built by the manufacturer from Lyon.
But in any case, the 26-Six is indeed the very last production of Rochet-Schneider which will devote itself thereafter to commercial vehicles. And the number of 26-Six built probably does not exceed a few units (see our last post on the subject.
The car was bought new by a British doctor, Stanley Rendall, in August 1930, and he kept it until 1934.
Stanley Morton Rendall was born in 1864. He was married to Clara Louisa Moulton. In addition to their home in Menton, the couple owned a villa in Aix-les-Bains since the late 1880s.
In 1933, the official records indicate that Dr. Rendall transferred the registration to this city and address. The registration was changed from 8902 BA 1 to 4358 QR 1.
Dr. Rendall was a proponent of the theses that developed at the end of the 19th century on the benefits of the Mediterranean climate and clean air on health.
We find his participation in a congress of obstetrics on February 5, 1904 and in a conference on climatotherapy on April 4, 1904. He also wrote several publications on the subject.
In Aix-les-Bains, the Stanley-Rendall villa was demolished in the early 1940s. At the end of the 60’s, all the buildings of the domain were destroyed. Other constructions were erected but the name of Stanley Rendall remained to designate the domain where modern residences are erected nowadays.
